New Delhi: The Unified Traffic and Transportation Infrastructure (Planning and Engineering) Centre (UTTIPEC) today gave its nod for the construction of a loop allowing direct access to the Barapullah elevated road from DND flyover and drawing of second carriageway of Rao Tula Ram flyover and underpass at Benito Juarez Marg.

The decision was taken at an UTTIPEC Board meeting chaired by Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung, Delhi government officials said.

The proposed loop would allow commuters from east Delhi and Noida to zip through to south Delhi localities around INA market by directly accessing the Barapullah elevated road from the DND flyover.
Commuters wanting to get on to Barapullah from Ashram side would not have to drive through the 2-km stretch of heavy traffic and take a U-turn to access the elevated stretch.

The public works department is constructing two slip roads leading to Barapullah, one from Ashram side of Ring Road and the other from DND.
The connecting loops, parts of Barapullah Phase-II, are expected to be completed by March, 2015.
