Now, boards in all MCD wards with details of development work

New Delhi: Keen on getting "appreciation" for
the work done by it before the civic body polls, the MCD now
plans to put up boards in every ward with details of
development projects taken up under the councillors` local
area fund.

"During last four years of BJP rule, MCD has done a lot of
development works in various areas. Along with these, more
than Rs 1000 crore were spent by 272 councillors under the
discretionary funds in their wards," MCD Works Committee
Chairman Jagdish Mamgain said.

He said due to multiplicity of authorities in Delhi,
sometimes MCD`s achievements "do not receive appreciation".

MCD will put a sign board in each ward displaying
information about the development works taken up under the
councillors` discretionary fund, the BJP corporator said.

"The board installed in each ward will contain the total
allocated amount, details of the work recommended by the
councillor, total amount sanctioned and spent, the name of the
contractor, the date of beginning and date of completion of
work," he said.

This will make the people aware about MCD works and area
residents and RWAs will be able to monitor the quality and
material used in it, Mamgain said adding, the civic body is
committed to bringing transparency in its functioning.

The MCD elections are slated to be held in 2012.
