New Delhi: Delhi-based self-drive car rental service provider Voler on Monday launched its services in the capital, offering consumers a choice to rent a car on an hourly, daily or monthly basis.
The company has said it is set to launch its services in major metro cities in six months.
"Voler means 'to fly' and we want to give people the opportunity to define their own route, milestones and journey. Having studied the market and consumer preference, we have witnessed a transition in mobility model, an inclination from owing a car to increasing preference towards car sharing and self-drive," said Vikas Parasrampuria, founder and CEO of Voler.
"We want to liberate people from clutches that come with owning a car. The self-drive car rental industry is booming. Voler aims to be a one-stop-shop for personal holistic urban mobility solutions - ranging from self-driven to manned vehicles for personal or institutional use," he added.
Consumers can use the website, to enter vehicle type, schedule and delivery option before proceeding to select the car model, uploading the driver's license and depositing the security amount for the car.
Voler will send the car filled with fuel at the desired location. The consumer has to fill the car with fuel before he returns the car after which Voler refunds the security deposit.
Currently, Voler's fleet ranges from Swift, Honda Amaze, Mercedes GLA to Toyota Fortuner along with a wide array of options.
"Voler's big advantage is door step delivery and pay for what you use which makes it the most efficient offering to the consumers. The offering and its features are well customised for Indian users," the company said.
According to research reports the organised sector stands at $9 billion and is to grow to $15 billion dollars in 2020.
"This sector is to become 50 percent of the total market over the next five years. Voler has plans to create a distinct mark and capture a large chunk of the market. Voler's aim is to operate PAN-India, the company is looking to expand its fleet to 1000 in the next six months," a spokesperson from Voler said.
The company also said that it will provide new serviced cars at 100 plus pick up locations, provide 24/7 roadside assistance, nationwide access and charge minimum deposit for the cars.
