Nursery student killed in road mishap; locals turn violent

A five-year-old student was killed and two others injured when a speeding dumper hit them while they were crossing a road in outer Delhi`s Aman Vihar area on Friday, police said.

New Delhi: A five-year-old student was
killed and two others injured when a speeding dumper hit them
while they were crossing a road in outer Delhi`s Aman Vihar
area on Friday, police said.
The incident took place at 7:30 am when Danish Husain,
a nursery student, Mohammad Arshad (14) and Niranjan Kumar
(12) were walking towards the R K Memorial School in the area
from C1 block in Aman Vihar.

The speeding dumper hit the children from behind when
they were crossing the road.

The trio was rushed to the Brahmshakti Hospital where
Danish was pronounced brought dead and Arshad suffered a
fracture in his right foot, the police said.

After the incident, locals stopped the dumper and
allegedly thrashed its driver Brijesh Singh before handing him
over to the police.
A senior police official said the locals also pelted
stones at police officers and indulged in arson. The official
said police have detained 13 people, including seven women,
and have stationed two platoons in the area.
