Odd-even scheme to be back in Delhi; CM Arvind Kejriwal to announce dates today

New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government will announce the second schedule of odd-even vehicle restriction formula on Thursday.

The Delhi Chief Minister will hold a press conference today at 4 pm and announce the dates.

The odd-even scheme, aimed at curbing air pollution was implemented on a trial basis from January 1-15 in its first phase.

Transport Minister Gopal Rai on Wednesday said that the government will make the announcement after reviewing over 11 lakh responses received from the public through multiple channels.

Rai tweeted, "Delhi government will take a decision on the future of odd-even tomorrow. The public feedback report is being prepared today."

Under the formula, odd-numbered four- wheelers were allowed to ply on odd dates and even-numbered vehicles on even dates.

According to reports, the second phase is likely to be introduced in April as school examinations will be underway in March.

AAP MLAs, who organised Jan Sabhas on the same theme, have claimed that public opinion was "overwhelmingly" in favour of re-introduction of the scheme.
