New Delhi: A 35-year-old driver was killed and three others, allegedly drunk, were injured when their speeding SUV rammed into a road divider here, police said Wednesday.

The incident took place last night on Rajesh Pilot Marg - Prithvi Raj Road crossing at 12:05 am. Driver of the SUV Rukam Chand, who resides in Burari, was killed in the incident, police said.

He was ferrying three executives of an advertising company to west Delhi after dinner when the incident took place.

Overspeeding was said to be cause of the incident.

"Chand lost control of the SUV while trying to negotiate a turn. The vehicle first hit the divider and turned turtle," a senior police official said.

The injured executives have been identified as Narendra Multani (42), Kamal Narang (39) and Vijay (40). They were headed to Paschim Vihar from Pandara Road.

Police said a medical examination has confirmed that the executives had consumed alcohol.

"We are yet to confirm whether Chand was under the influence of alcohol. We are awaiting reports," the official said.
