Over three crore saplings to be planted in UP

Uttar Pradesh government will plant over three crore saplings in the state, covering an area of around 55 thousand hectares, officials said here on Friday.

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government will plant over three crore saplings in the state, covering an area of around 55 thousand hectares, officials said here on Friday.

"The total target of planting saplings over 55 thousand hectare will be achieved by different departments. We will be planting more than 3.57 crore saplings of different
varieties", a release by the forest department said, adding, they would plant on 40,300 hectares.

With an objective of checking deforestation and ground water depletion, the department will also lay special focus on Bundelkhand region by launching special plantation
drives there.
