People have realised AAP cannot govern: Narayanasamy

Taking a swipe at AAP for its dharna at New Delhi for two days, Union Minister V Narayanasamy today said the people of national capital have realised that the fledgling party was incapable of governing.

Bangalore: Taking a swipe at AAP for its dharna at New Delhi for two days, Union Minister V Narayanasamy on Wednesday said the people of national capital have realised that the fledgling party was incapable of governing as it had failed to fulfill poll promises.

"They are indulging in tall talks. They have not fulfilled their promises made to the people before (Delhi) elections. Their achievement is zero and people of the state understand that they are not capable of governing," he told reporters on the sidelines of an event organised by Indian Space Research Organisation here.

Asked if the Congress wants to maintain its support to the Kejriwal government after the high drama in Delhi, he said, "the party has extended support to AAP and will continue to do so, for now."

On whether Congress regrets the support given to AAP because of his remarks of zero performance, Narayanasamy said the decision lies with the party leadership at the centre.

"We have to wait and watch. We cannot often decide to withdraw the support because the decision is taken at party leadership at the centre," he added.

Responding to reports about Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung brokering peace between AAP and the central government, Narayanasamy said, "You ask this to the Delhi Lt Governor."

He also said AAP was given mandate to govern, not agitate. He also flayed the party for defying the Constitution after taking oath in the name of the supreme law of the country.

"It is unfortunate that the people who have taken oath in the (name of) the Constitution defied it and (also) the rule of law," he added, while criticising AAP for defying the prohibitory orders imposed in New Delhi district.

Asked whether Congress was scared of announcing Rahul Gandhi as party`s Prime Ministerial candidate, he said there is no tradition in the party to announce such candidature.

"Under the Constitution, Prime Minister is to be selected by the elected members of the Parliament. There is no tradition in our party to announce Prime Ministerial candidate."

Dubbing BJP as "a half-baked party", he said it announced Narendra Modi as its Prime Ministerial candidate after being in tremendous pressure from Gujarat Chief Minister, he said.
"They declared Modi (as PM candidate) because BJP`s main asset is "jhooth" (lies). Falsehood is their main asset," he added.
Narayanasamy said UPA will return to power in the next Lok Sabha elections. "Congress party will get more number of seats and you will see UPA III again," he added.
