New Delhi: Don't be surprised if you are offered tea and snacks when you visit a sub-registrar's office for registration of properties.

Delhi Government has decided to set up 14 new offices across the city for registration of properties which will have a sleek ambience and offer people various amenities including tea, coffee and snacks.

A senior government official said the new offices are being set up considering the increasing volume of property transaction in the city as well as to offer people a comfortable ambience.

Currently the city government has 13 sub-registrar offices for registration of properties.

"This is an initiative to ensure that people do not face any difficulty in registration of properties. The government earns a lot from these registration and stamp duties," the official said.

Adequate number of computers will be installed in all these offices to help the people get various information through the online system.

The government's revenue collection from stamp duty and registration of properties has surged by a whopping 62 per cent till January this year in comparison to what it earned during the corresponding period last fiscal.

Revenue department officials said government collected Rs 1,370 crore during April 2010 to January 2011 against Rs 843 crore collected during the corresponding period last year.
