New Delhi: The Jawaharlal Nehru
University on Friday expelled two students and rusticated a third
for their involvement in a scandal involving a pornographic
clip after an internal inquiry committee submitted its report
to the Vice Chancellor.

The inquiry committee headed by Chief Proctor H B
Bohidar submitted its report to Vice Chancellor S K Sopory and
recommended that the three students involved in the filming
and circulation of the objectionable video clip be issued
charge sheets.
The two students, who were earlier suspended for their
involvement in the filming of the video and the making of a CD
were expelled, while a third student who had provided his
room for use in the incident was rusticated for one year,
Dean of Students V K Jain said.

He said a copy of the report was also being sent to
the South West Delhi Police.

The video clip circulating around the campus showed
two students in a compromising position.

The university also filed a formal complaint with the
police on the basis of its findings.

"We have also recommended that the cyber crime cell of
Delhi Police should investigate the larger angle of how the
video was circulated and uploaded on the Internet and the
related issues of the case," Bohidar said.

The panel probing the incident was formed after the
video clip, that was reportedly shot in April last year, was
reported to the Proctor`s office by a department and created
an outrage.

The panel questioned a number of students over the
past few days.
Vice Chancellor Sopory had called on HRD Minister
Kapil Sibal yesterday for the first time after assuming
office, and this incident was also discussed during the
meeting.

Sopory said he has held meetings with the hostel
wardens and with the students, who have expressed support to
any action taken by the varsity to prevent this type of
incidents from taking place again.
