New Delhi: Delhi BJP In-charge Prabhat Jha on Tuesday welcomed Delhi University Vice Chancellor Dinesh Singh`s resignation in the midst of a raging controversy over the four-year undergraduate programme (FYUP) rocking the varsity.
"He has done a wise thing by resigning. But he set DU on fire and then left his chair. He played with the career of so many students and we condemn that. We always were in support of a three year course," Jha said. He also welcomed 14 social activists who joined BJP today and said that more people were interested in joining the party. The party has initiated a special membership campaign between June 15 and 30. "The main membership campaign of BJP is due in 2015 but after the recent elections we found a spurt in the number of people willing to join BJP and so the party has decided to run a special campaign," Jha said. When asked about forming government in the national capital, Jha said that the party will not resort to any kind of manipulations to form government in the city. He rejected the claims that Delhi BJP leadership has become weakened with Harsh Vardhan becoming the Union Health Minister and said that the party will announce the name of a new state president.
