Union Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Bannerjee and expressed the hope that there "will be convergence" of views between them on the issue.

New Delhi: In the midst of parleys among political parties on Presidential election candidate, Union Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath on Wednesday met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Bannerjee and expressed the hope that there "will be convergence" of views between them on the issue.

On the other hand, the Trinamool Congress supremo`s close aide and Railway Minister Mukul Roy had a meeting with BJP leader Arun Jaitley here.

Emerging from the meeting with Mamata, Nath, when asked by reporters if Trinamool Congress will support Congress` Presidential poll nominee, said "I`m sure when Mamata meets the Prime Minister and Sonia Gandhi, there will be convergence".

Congress is keen to get Trinamool Congress`s support for the elections for the top post.

Mamata, who arrived here today, is slated to attend a meeting convened by the Centre on May 5 to try and evolve a consensus on NCTC and is also likely to meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during her stay here.

Mamata earlier in the day said in Kolkata that she has not spoken to anyone over the Presidential candidate issue as yet.

"I did not speak to anyone. I am going to Delhi. When I am in Delhi, I meet everyone because I was a Member of Parliament for 25 years," she told reporters when asked if she would discuss the presidential poll issue in Delhi.

She said she would meet Sonia Gandhi.

Mukul Roy held talks with Jaitley, the the Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha this afternoon at the latter`s Parliament House office for around 20 minutes.
After the meeting, sources said Roy wanted BJP support for the forthcoming discussion on the performance of Railways during the discussion on demands for grants in the Rajya Sabha.

BJP sources insisted there was no discussion on the Presidential elections.
