tonight, bringing some relief to Delhiities who have been
reeling under hot and humid conditions for days.

The rains accompanied by strong winds started at
around 10.30 PM, bringing down the temperature which had
climbed to three degrees above normal during the day while
high humidity had added to the woes.

The heavy rains which continued for about 45 minutes
resulted in waterlogging in several areas including Parliament
Street, Ashoka Road, ITO and Lakshmi Nagar. There were traffic
jams at busy crossings including ITO.

The weather office said the rains were due to western
disturbances. Light rains or thunder showers were expected
tomorrow also.

The maximum rose to 41.8 degree Celsius during the
day, up from yesterday`s 39.5 degrees Celsius, while the
minimum temperature touched 30 degrees from the previous day`s
27.5 degrees.

Today`s high was three degrees above normal while the
minimum was two degrees above normal. For the past few days,
the maximum was below 40 degree Celsius mark.

The humidity was at a high of 77 per cent while the
minimum was recorded at 45 per cent.
