New Delhi: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi
on Monday effected a reshuffle among its senior officers following
the promotion of two officers as Additional Commissioners and
transfer of Deputy Commissioners, including that of City Zone
where a building collapse claimed five lives last week.
Deepak Hastir, now Deputy Commissioner (Shahdara-South
Zone) and A K Singh, Deputy Commissioners (Department of
Environment Management Services-DEMS), were promoted as
Krishna Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of City Zone, has been
transferred to West Zone, a week after a building collapse in
Chandni Mahal claimed five lives. Chandni Mahal falls in City
Zone and it was alleged MCD officials had turned a blind eye
to illegal construction in the area.
However, a senior MCD official said Kumar`s transfer has
nothing to do with the collapse incident and termed it a

after DEMS. With their appointment, the strength of Additional
Commissioners in MCD has gone up from three to five.
Hastir will exercise administrative supervision of
Shahdara (South) Zone and Shahdara (North) Zone, Education,
Land and Estate, Electricity Tax, Sanjay Gandhi Transport
Nagar, Election, Public Premise and Corporation & Committee.
Singh will exercise administrative supervision of Civil
Lines Zone, Veterinary, Planning and Monitoring, Labour
Welfare, Languages, Central Uniform Cell and Printing and
Following the elevation of the two officers, a reshuffle
was also effected at Deputy Commissioner level.
DN Singh, Deputy Commissioner (SP Zone) has been moved
to Rohini Zone with Narela Zone as additional charge. Subhash
Chandra has been moved from Rohini Zone to City Zone while C R
Garg has been moved from West to Najafgarh Zone and J B Singh
has been moved from Najafgarh to SP Zone.
