Robbers loot Rs 40 lakh from man on Delhi road

In a daring robbery, 11 armed assailants waylaid the car of an ice-cream firm employee and looted Rs 40 lakh at gunpoint near Rajouri Garden flyover here in west Delhi this afternoon, police said.

New Delhi: In a daring robbery, 11 armed assailants waylaid the car of an ice-cream firm employee and looted Rs 40 lakh at gunpoint near Rajouri Garden flyover here in west Delhi this afternoon, police said.
The incident took place around 1:30 PM when victim Rohan Kumar was going to deposit the company`s money in a bank in his car.

"As he reached near Rajouri Garden flyover, a car came from behind and intercepted his car. A man came out of that car and asked Kumar to come out of his car," said a police official.
"When Kumar refused, 10 men on five bikes reached the spot. They then fired two rounds at the windscreen of Kumar`s car to scare him," he said.

They then grabbed the black bag which had the money and fled the spot on the motorcycles, leaving behind the car in which the first robber had come, the official added.

Someone made a PCR call, following which police rushed to the location and lifted fingerprints and other forensic evidence.
A case has been registered at the Rajouri Garden police station and around 10 teams have been formed to crack it.

Police suspect that an insider is involved in the crime who gave all the information to the attackers.
They are scanning the CCTV footage of the area to identify the accused.

Investigators also suspect that the car left behind by the assailants on the spot is stolen.
