New Delhi: The second phase of the `rath
yatras` of the Congress in Uttar Pradesh would be launched on
October 2 and Rahul Gandhi will be the face of the party in
the state-wide campaign.
AICC General Secretary in-charge of the state Digvijay
Singh said that the second phase of the yatra would culminate
on November 10 at Allahabad.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi is likely to address the
conclusion of the second phase of yatra at Allahabad, which
has the historic Anand Bhawan and associated with Moti Lal
Nehru and the first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru.
Singh said that the third phase of the yatra would
commence on December 28, the foundation day of the party.
"It would continue for a year and a chargesheet would
be brought out against the Mayawati government in every block
and district of the state," Singh told reporters.
To a question whether the judgement in the title suit
case of the disputed structure in Ayodhya will have any impact
on the political fortunes of any party, Singh said, "an issue
which has reached to the peak cannot be taken to the same
He said the Congress has always held that it will go by
the court verdict.
