Seven government officials, belonging to various departments including Trade and Taxes and PWD, have been arrested by Anti-Corruption Branch officials.

New Delhi: Seven government officials, belonging to various departments including Trade and Taxes and PWD, have been arrested by Anti-Corruption Branch officials in February for allegedly taking bribe following complaints received on the helpline number 1031.

Another man (dalal) operating outside the premises of sub-registrar office, Kapashera was also caught red handed while demanding and accepting bribe money following sting operations done by the complainants, said ACB`s Additional Commissioner V Renganathan.

Six cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act have been registered and the accused persons were arrested.
Renganathan said that the Anti-Corruption Branch and Directorate of Vigilance were continuously making efforts to ensure immediate and stringent legal action against officials who indulge in corrupt practices on receipt of the complaints through the anti-corruption helpline.

Lt Governor Najeeb Jung on March 4 had directed the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) to investigate all corruption related complaints received through helpline 1031 and take strict action against government officials found involved in graft.

The ACB, which was earlier reporting to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, is now reporting directly to Chief Secretary SK Srivastava.
Sources said the number of calls has come down from 1,500-2,000 per day during Kejriwal`s government to just 500-600 a day after his resignation on February 14.
