Shobhit case: Girlfriend`s father behind murder?

Family members of an IT student, stabbed to death early this year near his southwest Delhi home, accused the city police before the Delhi HC of ignoring their suspicion of involvement of the father of a girl behind the killing.

New Delhi: Family members of an IT student,
stabbed to death early this year near his southwest Delhi
home, on Tuesday accused the city police before the Delhi High
Court of ignoring their suspicion of involvement of the father
of a girl, friendly to the boy, behind the killing.

Making their pleas personally, the father and the sister
of slain 20-year-old IT student Shobhit Modi told Justice
Mukta Gupta that the police have not probed the case despite
them having named the girl`s father in their complaint.

An IT student at Manav Rachna University, Faridabad,
Shobhit was fatally stabbed by some unknown persons near his
house at Vasant Kunj in southwest Delhi on May 5.

"Police has been claiming that it has examined several
people associated with the victim but (is) not examining the
girl`s family members properly," Shobhit`s father and sister
told the court.

"What is the use of interrogating 1,100 contacts but not
examining properly four-five people who we are suspecting? The
agency (police) is biased," Shobhit`s sister told the court,
referring to the reply by the Vasant Kunj police to their plea
for entrusting the blind murder case to the CBI for probe.

In its reply to the plea by Shobhit`s kin, the police had
claimed that it has examined several people including the
family members of the alleged girlfriend, residing in
trans-Yamuna area.
