Voicing concern over spate in atrocities on women in the national capital, an opposition member in the Rajya Sabha on Friday sought immediate measures to make Delhi safe for them.

atrocities on women in the national capital, an opposition
member in the Rajya Sabha on Friday sought immediate measures to
make Delhi safe for them.

"Delhi is not safe for women. Their safety and security is
at risk. The graph of crime against them is going up.

Criminals are taking advantage of administrative lapses and
under the circumstance the government should take immediate
measure to provide security to women," Maya Singh (BJP) said.

Raising the issue through a special mention, she said
crime against women has increased by four per cent in 2010
compared to the previous year and there was need to check it.

KN Balagopal (CPI-M) through another mention sought
creation of National Judicial Service in the country for
recruitment and training of judicial officers.

Rama Chandra Khuntia (Cong) expressed concern over arrest
of tribals in Orissa for carrying cannabis and said innocent
tribals fell victim for carrying the narcotic substance
unintentionally.

He demanded steps to check illegal trade of such
substances in the country.

Magala Kisan (BJD) favoured simplifying the procedure for
withdrawal from provident fund under the new scheme, while
P Rajeeve (CPI-M) said there was a need to review the process
of reduction in number of post offices in the country.

Md Ali Khan (Cong) wanted that problems being faced by
Indian students of Tri-Valley University in the US should be
addressed.

Avtar Singh Karimpuri (BSP) said there was need to check
atrocities against Dalits in Punjab.

Prabhat Jha (BJP) said mother tongues and local dialects
should be preserved.
