New Delhi: It was a chilly but pleasant morning for Delhiites on Tuesday as the minimum temperature settled within the normal range and the Sun shone bright as the day progressed.

The low was recorded at 7.5 degrees Celsius, up by 1.9 degree Celsius from yesterday's 5.6 degrees. The maximum temperature in the last 24 hours was recorded at 22.7 degree Celsius, one degree above normal.

The early morning was chilly due to cold winds and a light fog cover. However, the chill and the fog dissipated as the sun came out in full force.

The Weatherman has predicted mist tomorrow morning with temperature oscillating between seven and 21 degrees Celsius.

The capital had been witnessing dense fog over the past week but the last four days were devoid of dense fog.

Last month saw the minimum temperature come down to 2.9 degrees Celsius on Christmas morning, the lowest of the season so far.

In the past 11 years, except for 2010, the month of January has recorded the lowest minimum temperature on January eight of 2006 when the mercury had dipped to 0.2 deg C.

The record lowest minimum for the month was on January 16, 1935 when mercury touched minus 0.6 degrees Celsius while the highest maximum was 32.5 degrees on January 28, 2004.
