New Delhi: A 32-year-old `Super Thief`, who
was allegedly involved in over 600 cases of burglaries and
earned Rs 15-20 lakh in the past one year through criminal
activities, was arrested here, police said on Thursday.
Subhash was caught from near Press Enclave in south Delhi
on February 19 and gold and silver jewellery worth Rs five
lakh and a motorcycle were seized, Deputy Commissioner of
Police (South) H G S Dhaliwal said.
The arrest came following a complaint filed by R K
Sharma, Assistant Audit Officer in Home Ministry, that a theft
has taken place in his house in Pushp Vihar between December
26-31 last year when his family was out of station.
When intercepted, Subhash attempted to flee but two Sub
Inspectors Dalip Kumar and Sanjay gave him a chase and hit his
bike from behind. Both the bikes fell down and the police team
managed to overpower Subhash.
During questioning, Dhaliwal claimed, he was found to be
involved in over 600 cases of burglaries. He remained in jail
in those cases and was released on bail in January last year.
"Subhash is known as `Super Chor` (Super Thief). He
remains elegantly dressed-up and is fond of lavish lifestyle
and has many girlfriends. He only consumes high-end Blue Label
Scotch Whisky out of the money made out of crime. He moves in
car or brand-new high-speed bikes," he said.
"He has seven motorcycles in his name which he had left
behind while being chased by police and never turned up to
claim the same," Dhaliwal said.
