Three drug rackets smashed in Delhi

The Delhi Police on Monday claimed to have smashed three gangs of drug traffickers with the arrest of five persons, including a Nigerian textile merchant, and recovery of heroin, cocaine and ganja from their possession.

smashed three gangs of drug traffickers with the arrest of
five persons, including a Nigerian textile merchant, and
recovery of heroin, cocaine and ganja from their possession.

The Crime Branch apprehended Chidi Henry Obika (28) from
near National Heart Institute in south-east Delhi`s East of
Kailash locality on Saturday allegedly with 15 gm cocaine
worth around Rs 11 lakh, Additional DCP (Crime) Sanjay Bhatia
said.

Obika had come to Trichinapally in Tamil Nadu two years
ago to start a textile business.

"He visited various cities of India to start his
business. Finally he started his textile business from Mumbai.
During his trading business, he came across a Nigerian
national Mike, who advised him to start sale and supply of
cocaine and gave him the narcotics.

"Obika took a house in Janakpuri on rent and started
selling cocaine. He has access to various pubs and clubs. To
earn easy money he started supplying cocaine to clients in
posh areas of Delhi," Bhatia said.

In another case, three persons were apprehended from near
Maujpur Chowk in outer Delhi on Friday allegedly with 1.15 kg
heroin. The arrested have been identified as Gulsher (37),
Nabi Hassan (26) and Mohd Alam (50).

"There was an information that for the last six months a
drug syndicate was active in Outer, Central, North and North
East Delhi and a few members of this syndicate were
identified," DCP (Special Cell) Arun Kampani said.
