New Delhi: Delhi Chief Secretary Rakesh Mehta
today blamed involvement of too many agencies in Commonwealth
Games projects for the delays in works and said there has been
very little coordination between them.

Giving an example of lack of coordination, he said the
PWD had completed construction of the pavement in front of the
main gate of the Indira Gandhi stadium which was fully removed
last night by the CPWD.

Mehta said during his visit to the IGI stadium, he found
out that a portion of the pavement has been completely removed
by the CPWD which has been carrying out renovation work inside
the stadium, a venue of the mega event.

"I have sought a report from the Chief Engineer concerned
of the CPWD. I would say this has happened due to lack of
coordination among the agencies involved in Games projects,"
he said.

Mehta said a similar incident happened near the Thyagraj
stadium also as portion of the pavement was removed and now
being re-built.

"As many as nine agencies are implementing various
projects related to the Games. There has been delays because
of lack of coordination," he added.

Mehta said agencies like MTNL, BSES are still laying
cables under the ground in various areas, in the process
damaging newly-built pavements having costly tiles.
