New Delhi: BJP on Thursday expressed confidence that it would emerge victorious in the Delhi Assembly polls and said it was counting on the people to go by the party's track record even as it questioned whether the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP would be able to provide stability here.

Highlighting the two "mistakes" which Kejriwal himself admitted he had committed by quitting as chief minister and contesting from Varanasi, BJP asked people to elect a government that stood for good governance and development through a stable government.

"Kejriwal is committing a mistake in a hurry and repenting at leisure. What does it indicate? What is the guarantee whether he will be able to provide stability in Delhi. Track record is equally important. We are confident that the people of Delhi will give a decisive verdict in our favour. We are very much assured of a decisive victory," Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said.

The people of Delhi recognise the worth of and the need for a stable and effective government for ensuring development and security and for bringing greater importance to Delhi as the capital of India, the minister said as he cited the track record of the Narendra Modi government in the past few months in this regard.

Meanwhile, taking a dig at Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi over his Rs 10-lakh suit jibe at Modi, Prasad said, "I understand his frustration. Let politics be about development and let's not bring it to the suit."

As the campaign for Delhi elections ended today, the party held roadshows in each of the 70 Assembly constituencies here. Prasad said that till yesterday, BJP had held 318 public meetings along with four rallies by the prime minister.

"The entire campaign of BJP was very methodical and the focus of the campaign was very clear -- a stable government and good governance. A governance marked by stability, marked by delivery and the development of all," he said.

Prasad also cited the examples of the Haryana and Jharkhand chief ministers, who he said were common men who have risen to the highest level through hard work.

"BJP gives a clear role model to those who (are) common men and come from their kind of background," he said.
