Training on fire safety held for Metro officials

Metro and fire service professionals from various states were on Tuesday taught about fire safety mechanisms inside Metro system at a day-long training programme here.

professionals from various states were on Tuesday taught about fire
safety mechanisms inside Metro system at a day-long training
programme here.

The national-level training programme on `Fire safety
in Metro systems` was organised by the Delhi Metro Rail
Corporation.

"Participants from DMRC, the Delhi Fire Service, the
Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue department and officials from the
Metro projects of Chennai, Bengaluru, Kochi and Kolkata
participated in the day-long programme," a DMRC spokesman
said.

Top Delhi Metro officials took part in the programme
which included both theoretical and practical presentations.

Some of the sessions were on topics like underground
station evacuation, tunnel ventilation, smoke extraction, fire
and hydraulics.

Later, practical demonstrations on fire safety were
organised at the Malviya Nagar and Qutab Minar Metro stations
where the participants were given demonstrations about the
fire safety mechanisms at both underground and elevated Metro
stations.
