New Delhi: A 59-year-old Delhi Police sub-inspector was killed and two policemen were seriously injured when an overspeeding truck rammed into their PCR van late Monday night, police said.

The truck was heading to Noida from Delhi.

The accident occurred on the Delhi-Noida border around 1.00 a.m when "sub-inspector Subedar Khan along with assistant sub-inspector Girdhari Lal, 50, and constable Aqeel Muhammed, 46, were manning the check post", police said.

The trio were sitting inside a Police Control Room (PCR) van when the overspeeding truck, carrying a container, hit the barricade and rammed into their Jypsy vehicle. Subedar Khan died while Girdhari Lal and Aqeel Khan were seriously injured.

"The impact was such that the truck dragged the van for a few metres before it climbed a guard rail on the roadside and finally came to a stop," a police officer said.
