Two youth were arrested for allegedly raping a school girl in a car in South Delhi`s posh Safdarjung Enclave area.

New Delhi: Two youth were arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping a school girl in a car in South Delhi`s posh Safdarjung Enclave area, while a hunt to nab the third accused is on.

The class IX girl was allegedly raped by the three youth in their car on Tuesday night after she went for a drive with them.

They were nabbed from Gurgaon, police said.

"The two men, identified as Narender alias Ninder and Rohit have been arrested while their third associate Tinku, who was driving the car that day, is still at large. Efforts are on to nab him. Tinku and Narender are cousins," said a senior police official.

According to police, all the three men are between 20 to 22 years of age.

On Tuesday night at around 8 pm, the class IX girl, who is around 17-year-old, was called by Rohit on her phone. He asked the girl to accompany him and his friends Narender and Tinku on a drive. As she knew them, she sat in the car driven by Tinku, police said.

"According to the victim`s statement, they then offered her some drink which was laced with sedatives. When she became unconscious, they parked the car at a parking lot in Pilanji village in south Delhi and took turns to rape her. They then left her near her home before threatening her not to reveal the incident to anybody and drove away," said a police official.

Initially, the victim was too scared and was in a state of shock. However, after her family consoled her, she narrated her ordeal following which her father persuaded her to file a police complaint.

The girl and her family then reached Safdarjung Enclave police station yesterday morning and lodged a complaint against the trio.

After rape was confirmed in the medical examination of the girl, a case under section 376-G (gangrape), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and wrongful confinement of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012 (POCSO) was registered.

The girl is a student of a reputed private school while the accused lived close to her house and knew her, police said.

Police have recovered the Hyundai car in which the rape allegedly took place.
