Dehradun: With voting underway in Uttarakhand on Monday, union minister Harish Rawat, who is been dubbed as Congress’ chief ministerial candidate, is confident that the people of the state would vote out the incumbent BJP government in the state.
“We hope that people are going to vote for change today. The (Congress) government will aspire for the speedy development of the state. People of the state are fed up with the internal fighting in the ruling party,” Rawat said while talking to a news channel.
“There was lot of corruption from Ganga to Kumbh Mela, people are angry they feel that they were cheated by the BJP,” he added.
Strongly pitching for the return of his party to power in the state, he said, “There is only one alternative and that’s Congress. We are the rightful claimant to form the government.”
On the issue of who would be the chief minister in the eventuality of Congress’ win, Rawat appeared guarded. He said, “Who will be the next CM would be decided by the MLAs and the Congress president.”
