We don't bring a person from Ghaziabad to fight polls in Delhi: BJP

New Delhi: Taking a dig at Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay on Tuesday said that his party only gives tickets to Delhiites and does not bring candidates from Ghaziabad to contest Assembly elections here.

Upadhyay's remark was aimed at Kejriwal, who has reportedly withdrawn an application for transfer of address in voter identity card after an NGO recently approached EC, saying he is a resident of Ghaziabad and his request should not be entertained.

"We only give ticket to residents of Delhi to contest elections in the capital. We don't bring person from Ghaziabad and other areas to make him contest elections here. BJP will only give tickets to persons who are resident of Delhi," Upadhyay said here.

On being asked whom party would field against Kejriwal, the Delhi BJP chief also said that party has not decided so far, but it would field such candidate who will definitely defeat him.

He said that party's strategy was to "bloom the lotus" on all the 70-Assembly seats of the national capital.

"As part of strategy, party's election committee will soon be formed", he said.

Asked about the party's chief ministerial candidate, Upadhyay said that BJP will contest the forthcoming Assembly elections under "collective leadership" and we are very sure that we will form a government with full majority in Delhi.

Replying to Kejriwal's remarks that BJP is a "sinking ship without a captain", Upadhyay further added, "It was seen in the Lok Sabha elections that who was the sinking ship. We are choosing persons for cleaning, but they are choosing persons for collecting money."
