New Delhi: A young married woman and her boyfriend were arrested in east Delhi for in connection with the murder of her brother-in-law who opposed her "love affair", police said today.

Two persons, including a juvenile, who helped them in the murder which took place in West Vinod Nagar on May 27 were also apprehended. The arrested were identified as Usha Srivastva (28), her boyfriend Imamudin (25) and Firoz (26).

"Usha is married and she had an affair with Imamudin. Her brother-in-law Jagdish Yadav often scolded her about this and always tried to stop Usha from meeting him. Usha then hatched a conspiracy with Imamuddin to kill Yadav," police said.

Four men had barged into the residence of Yadav, an electrician, on May 27 night and stabbed him to death. During investigations, it came to notice that Yadav's sister-in-law was having affair with Imamudin for last few months.

"Surveillance was kept on the activities of Imamudin and it was found that he had criminal background. His call details were analysed, which also indicated his presence at the place during the time of offence," police said.

He was interrogated and he confessed that he along with his two associates murdered Yadav on the instigation of Usha, police claimed. Usha also confessed to her involvement and later Firoz and one juvenile were apprehended, police said.

"Few days ago, Usha told Imamudin that Yadav often scolded her for having a relationship with a boy of different community. Jagdish always tried to stop Usha from meeting her with Imamuddin. Usha hatched a conspiracy with Imamudin to kill Yadav. After this Usha kept on pressurising him to eliminate Jagdish," police claimed.
