Woman falls from flyover resisting robbery bid

A young woman tonight fell from a flyover in east Delhi while trying to resist a snatching attempt on her by two motorcycle-borne robbers.

New Delhi: A young woman tonight fell from
a flyover in east Delhi while trying to resist a snatching
attempt on her by two motorcycle-borne robbers.

The incident took place at Karkari More flyover at
around 9:30 pm when the victim, Madhumita, was returning home
after work, a senior police official said. She works in Laxmi
Nagar.

The woman had started walking on the flyover when she
was waylaid by the two robbers, who assaulted her. She fell
from a height of about five to six feet and suffered some
injuries.

"The two men tried to snatch her bag. She resisted as
they tugged hard on the bag, and the handles of the bag tore.
She then fell from the flyover," the official said.

The victim was rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital
for treatment. "She is a state of shock otherwise she is
alright," the official said.

Police have erected barricades in the locality and have
started checking motorcycles.

A case has been registered and further investigations
are on.
