New Delhi: A youth was arrested from the IGI
airport here for allegedly threatening to hijack a Mumbai-
bound Jet Airways fight after he and his companions entered
into an arguement with the crew in an "inebriated condition".

Police said Anil, hailing from Haryana, also falsely
claimed that he had a "bomb in his bag".
The youth was boarding the plane along with his five
companions last night. They began an altercation with the
crew over the rescheduling of the flight from 10.30 pm to
12.30 am, according to police.

Amid heated exchanges of words inside the aircraft, Anil
allegedly threatened the crew that he would hijack the plane
and he had a "bomb in his bag", police said.

He and his companions were immediately caught by the crew
and airport security was alerted. CISF personnel took all six
into custody and later handed them over to police.

Airport officials alleged that they were boarding the
flight in an in "inebriated condition".

"A case has been registered against Anil for allegedly
threatening to hijack the plane and creating nuisance in an
inebriated condition. A complaint was lodged by the airport
authorities," a senior police officer said.
The five companions of Anil were, however, let off after
a thorough enquiry and verification as their names were not in
the complaint, he said.

All the six were put to a medical test for verification
of the allegation that they had consumed alcohol. "Anil has
been arrested. We are investigating the case," he said.
