New Delhi: A youth has been sentenced to
seven years in jail by a Delhi court for raping and sodomising
a minor girl after kidnapping her.

Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Rajneesh Kumar Gupta
jailed Uttar Pradesh native Charan Singh for raping the
13-year-old girl for eight days after kidnapping her in March
2010.

"The evidence of the girl inspires confidence and is
reliable. From the evidence, prosecution has proved its case
beyond reasonable doubt against Singh that he had kidnapped
her with the intention to have illicit intercourse with him ,"
the court said, while also imposing a fine of Rs 6,000 on him.

According to police, Singh kidnapped the minor girl on
March 22, 2010 from near her house in West Delhi, where she
used to work as a maid and took her to his sister`s house in
UP and raped her there several times.

The girl told the court that Singh had kidnapped her when
she on her way to work. He kidnapped her after making her
unconscious, she said adding he had told her he would soon
marry her and had also threatened her with dire consequences
if she would not listen to him.

She said Singh`s sister had turned them out of the house
after two days due to the fear of being apprehended by the
police and then she was taken to his mother`s house.
On March 30, 2010, Singh was arrested from his mother`s
house and she was brought to Delhi.

Singh denied the allegations against him and said the girl
had accompanied him with her own free will and sought leniency
on the ground that he has to look after aged parents.
ASJ Gupta, however, noted that there was no evidence to
prove that the girl had gone with him with her own free will
and he had not enticed her in any way.
