Olympics 2012 badminton: Jwala Gutta, V Diju duo crashes out

London: Jwala Gutta and V Diju`s badminton campaign in the mixed doubles ended after losing to South Korea`s Jung Eun Ha and Yong Dae Lee 0-2 in their last group game of the London Olympics 2012 on Tuesday. Earlier, Jwala Gutta and V Diju got off to a poor start after they went down in straight games to Indonesia`s Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir in their opening group match. In the second match, the duo lost to 2009 World Championships winners Thomas Laybourn and Kamilla Rytter Juhl of Denmark, seeded eighth, as they proved too hot to handle for the 13th ranked Indian combo. They succumbed to a 12-21 16-21 loss in just half an hour. The Indian combo looked erratic and could not match their rivals, who were in control of the match throughout. Jwala and Diju failed to create any opportunity against the Dane pair, who pushed the Indians on the backfoot right from the start and maintained the pressure.
