Veterinary doctor Ajit Kumar said Patna Zoo is taking special care of the animals belonging to the cat family.
"We have provided coolers for animals belonging to the cat group, including lions, tigers, leopard, general cat`s and golden cats. We have also put hay to keep the enclosures cool, that tend to get hot
To avoid dehydration among animals, a dosage of glucose and medicines with vitamins, are being given under veterinarian supervision.
Visitors to the zoo appreciated the efforts of the zoo administration.
"Animals in the zoo are being given ample water, coolers and air conditioners have been fitted to help them stay cool. They are being taken care of. We were happy to see that the zoo authorities are paying great attention to the animals and their health," said a visitor, Mukesh Jha.
Many pools inside the enclosures ensure sufficient water for the animals.
Shades are being placed over the cages of animals and caretakers splash water at regular intervals to protect the animals from the heat.
Watermelons, bananas are being given to chimpanzees and their activities are being monitored regularly.
