London: Manchester United are reportedly planning a move to land Chelsea veteran Frank Lampard.
United’s manager Alex Ferguson’s admiration for Lampard is no secret. He even went after the midfielder way back in 2001 to join him at Old Trafford ahead of Chelsea.
In 2009, Fergie paid his tribute to Lampard, saying: “He is an exceptional player and a huge asset to his team.”
Lampard has been told by his current club’s owner that he won’t be offered a new contract at Stamford Bridge and thus is free to leave.
The 34-year-old midfielder has however expressed his desire to prolong his stay at the club he joined in 2001 from West Ham.
