India and Finland will explore solar energy applications for oil and gas projects as the two nations step up cooperation in several areas.

New Delhi: India and Finland will explore solar energy applications for oil and gas projects as the two nations step up cooperation in several areas.
Besides exploring for specific projects in solar energy applications for oil and gas projects, biofuels and algae based biofuels research and water and waste water management, the other areas identified for cooperation include carbon capture and reformation, an official statement said here.

This emerged at meeting between of officials of the two nations led by Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Lakshmi Panabaka and Finland`s State Secretary for Employment and Economy Marja Rislakki.

Along with 14 members from Finland, the meeting was also attended by senior officers Oil Ministry and ONGC.

"Based on above broad areas of collaboration, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) can be taken up between Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Government of Finland in future," the statement said.

The two sides underlined that collaboration between the ministry and Finland Government can be in the area of sustainable development for mutual benefits in accordance with the agreement, respective laws and regulation of the both countries.

Finland`s `Finn-partnership` aims to increase commercial cooperation with developing countries to enhance economic growth, diversify the economy and exports, and reduce poverty in developing countries, the statement said.
