New Delhi: Indeed, it was a proud moment for the 28-year-old Katrl, a Pacific white-sided dolphin, when she gave birth to her first child to become a mother for the first time on April 18, 2016.
It is said that Katrl gave birth after 3 hours of labor in the Abbott Oceanarium with more than 40 members of the animal care and veterinary teams standing by.
The calf, weighing about 25 pounds and standing about 3 feet in length, was able to reach the surface just moments after it came into the world.

“As soon as those little tail flukes appear, your heart begins to race, and you know it’s only a matter of time before you are about to witness something incredibly amazing,” said Lisa Takaki, senior director of marine mammals, Shedd Aquarium.
