NGO wants CBI to investigate death of tigress Jhurjhura in MP

Tigress Jhurjhura was run over by a vehicle at Bandhavgarh National Park in May last year.

Bhopal: An organisation working for wildlife conservation, today demanded that CBI should be roped in to investigate the death of tigress Jhurjhura at Bandhavgarh.
Addressing a press conference, Shehla Masood of NGO Udai said the death of tigress Jhurjhura in Bandhavgarh and other cases of poaching of animals in the state should be handed over to the CBI.

Tigress Jhurjhura was run over by a vehicle at Bandhavgarh National Park in May last year. Some prominent people including a forest officer were reportedly traveling in that vehicle.

Shehla said that although Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was also the chairman of the State Wildlife Board, he did not have much knowledge about wildlife.

The specially created tiger cell of the Madhya Pradesh government is insensitive, incompetent and careless as has become evident in the last six years, she claimed.
