Pangolin scales seized, one held in Odisha

The Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) arrested one person and seized around one kg of pangolin scales from him, Divisional Forest Officer (Berhampur) S S Mishra said Tuesday.

Berhampur (Odisha): The Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) arrested one person and seized around one kg of pangolin scales from him, Divisional Forest Officer (Berhampur) S S Mishra said Tuesday.

The culprit, identified as Hazi Ispat of Mochi Street locality here, was arrested during a raid conducted yesterday.

Mishra said the raid was conducted by a team of WCCB officials and local forest officers.

WCCB is a statutory multi-disciplinary body set up by the Centre under the Ministry of Environment and Forests to combat organized wildlife crime in the country.

Pangolin scales are used in Chinese medicines.
