Golaghat: England's Prince William and his wife Princess Kate Middleton visited Kaziranga National Park, Assam on Wednesday as part of their Indian trip.

But just a few hours after the Royal couple's departure, a rhinoceros was shot dead by poachers at the sanctuary.

The poachers have taken away the Rhino's horn.

A male adult rhino was killed and its horn taken away by armed poachers last night, KNP Divisional Forest Officer Subhashis Das said.

The carcass of the rhino was recovered from a place under Burhapahar range of the Park.

Das said 88 empty cases of AK-47 cartridges were found from the spot.
