New Delhi: A wildlife enthusiast has filed a PIL at Delhi High Court to protest against the translocation of a tiger at Ranthambore Tiger Reserve to Udaipur's Sajjangarh Biological Park.

The tiger, known as Ustad or T-24, has been accused of killing a forest guard on May 8, 2015.

According to the PIL, Ustad has been wrongfully accused of being a man-eater without any evidence and in response to public pressure, reports an English daily.

It said that the guard was killed because he was encroaching upon his territory.

The PIL also said that the shifting of Ustad is against the Wildlife Protection Act.

Ustad, who was shifted to the Udaipur zoo on May 16, will be kept in captivity, forest department sources said.

Last month, a seven-year-old tiger had died of Leptospirosis, a bacterial infection caused by rats, at Sajjangarh Biological Park.

The shifting of Ustad has drawn flak from wildlife experts as they believe that Ustad's translocation was made without any scientific probe and this could result in adverse affects for the tiger population in the reserve as well.

The nine-year-old male tiger has also been accused of killing three other men in 2010 and in 2012.
