Bhopal: To revive the big cat population in Panna Tiger Reserve, two more tigresses will be translocated in the park on December 6, a top forest department official said.
"Two tigresses from famous Kanha Tiger Reserve will be brought by road and will be put in the wild of Panna Tiger Reserve on December 6," Panna Reserve Field Director RS
Murthy informed.
The distance between Kanha and Panna - both situated in eastern Madhya Pradesh - was roughly around 450 km.
The tigresses will be tranquilised and brought to the Panna, he said.
"These two tigresses are five-and-a-half-year-old," Murthy said, adding that "the two felines had been reared in an enclosure in that park after they became orphaned."
A tigress from Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve was translocated in Panna on March 6, 2009 and another feline was translocated from Kanha in the park on March 14, 2009, Murthy said.
