Mumbai: The Indian economy is going to be stronger and in the next year, GDP growth will reach around 9 per cent, a top Tata group official said.

"The economy is getting stronger and by next year we can expect a GDP growth around 9 per cent," Tata Sons' Executive Director, R Gopalakrishnan, said on the sidelines of a function here today.

While flagging off the second edition of Tata Jagriti Yatra 2009 along with Jagriti Sewa Sansthan Chairman Shashank Mani, Gopalakrishnan said that to become a successful entrepreneur, one has to enjoy and believe in the work he does.

"One has to believe in what he does and he has to enjoy that too, to become a successful entrepreneur. In a country as vast and diverse as India, a strong entrepreneurial society is critical for achieving its socio-economic objectives," he said, adding that "the Tatas have always encouraged and nurtured the spirit of entrepreneurship."

"We believe the youth are the future of India and through Tata Jagriti Yatra our endeavour is to encourage a strong 'entrepreneurial outlook' among these torch-bearers of tomorrow. The format, the diverse reach and the underlying spirit and philosophy of Tata Jagriti Yatra provides these young agents of change with an excellent forum to connect, exchange ideas, draw inspiration and work together to enrich the Indian entrepreneurial ecosystem towards a favourable tomorrow," he said.
