New Delhi: Inflation fell to 0.70 percent
for the week ending September 26 from 0.83 percent in the
previous week on slight easing of food prices over the week.
The Wholesale Price Index-based inflation stood below one
percent mark for the fourth consecutive week after rising
from sub-zero levels in the first week of September.
Among food items poultry chicken fell by 3 percent while
bajra, fruits and vegetables, condiments and spices, and arhar
prices slipped by a percent each.
Manufactured food items that saw a decline in prices
included oil cakes (5 percent), imported edible oil (2 percent), and sugar, malted food, coconut oil and groundnut oil
(1 percent).
