Haldwani: In a shocking disclosure, thousands of quintals of wheat stocks worth millions were found rotting at Food Corporation of India owned godown in Haldwani district of Uttarakhand.

According to media reports, the grain stocks were meant for the consumption of flood-ravaged victims.

At least 8,000 quintals of wheat have been completely damaged due to the onslaught of rains in the region, confirmed official sources.

country`s gross production so much !! agricultural production so much !! we have record output !! great statistics. however, is anyone bothered where all this is going. no record of consumption. of course, all this rotten garin will be accounted for as consumption. we have pepole dying of strvation and we have people who keep on filling their coffers at the cost of nation`s prestige and taxpayer`s money (commonwealth- all these people are common people and wealth is also theirs).

there seems to be a conspiracy by commodities cartel or traders involved to create artificial man-made inflation to influence political election results, possibly by those supporting opposition parties to remove ruling state/central government from power in next elections , making it a election issue. typical indian neta mindset. whatever happened to the lord krishna`s phrase of `` never to waste a single grain`` or is it krishna`s land anymore?

ministers, political class and average worker, supervisor, manager never take their jobs seriously enough because of lack of accountability and severe punishment for the defaults that take place. ministers must not be just sacked but banned for 15/20 yrs. contractors must be compulsorily jailed and banned from future biding and award of contracts and supervisors/managers must be black listed and jailed if need be. it is only then that the message will percolate both downwards and upwards that india is serious about its work and endeavour.

what have u to say to the rotting of food grains. yesterday you criticised kalmadi and called cwg as a joke. running the agriculture ministry too is not a joke which needs full attention and constant monitoring. probabaly u would shift the blame on the state saying that the distribution of food grains is a state subject. is your minsitry not supposed to monitor and control. any way this is how the governments are run in this country.
