As the IT industry matures the demand for IT professionals keep increasing, Patricia Mascarenhas gives an insight on the ASET programme that aims to address and bridge the gaps in this industry.
In our modern and competitive era, technology is deepening its roots in almost every possible field. The way ERP (enterprise resource planning) was used by organisations is now changing. “Initially, an ERP solution was preferred by manufacturing industries for finance and accounting, sales and distribution and material management/purchase processes. Lately, they have included plant maintenance, HR, transportation and service modules for easy operational process,” says Sudheer Nair, CEO, eresource Academy.
Today each industry is looking for an ERP solution to run the business smoothly. “Being in the field for more than eight years we can feel the pulse of the industry. The requirement of ERP and IT professionals are growing day by day but the supply is short of actual demand,” he adds.
Looking at this grave situation, eresource introduced an 18 month training programme that could help meet the demand of trained IT and ERP professionals from the Indian and overseas ERP market.
“The ASET (Advanced Software Engineering and Technology) course is an intensive entry level programme that combines theory and work experience.” says Nair. It caters to the vocational needs of the students and is concurrent with the software engineering and technology syllabus covered by major universities.
“I wanted to build my career in software programming. After going through a couple of institutes I came across ASET, which had the same course materials but with field training,” says Vaibhav Shahane, student. The course module is a mixture of knowledge and experience which gives aspirants confidence in the industrial area prospective, he shares.
eresource Academy is part of eresouce Infotech which is an ERP firm. “We are little different from other institutes because our students get hands-on experience with live-projects in our firm. It makes them ready to face the challenges when they complete the course and ready to take up big jobs,” says Nair. “It addresses the industrial need by providing field,” adds Shanane.
Graduates securing minimum 50 per cent marks in any field may apply for the course. Selection is through a systematic process comprising of an online objective test, group discussion and personal interviews.
“Selected students are offered an internship with a stipend of Rs. 8,000 per month after the first semester, Rs. 10,000 after the second semester and Rs. 12,500 after the third semester,” informs Nair. Successful candidates are placed as software trainees in eresource Infotech with a starting annual package of Rs. 240,000.
The future of aspirants in the software industry is quite bright. It offers several opportunities in ERP and other related functions like database administration, systems administration, software training and network administration. “IT is eventually going to be the backbone of any business process. Hence as far as the jobs are concerned, it is very simple when you know the job there is a job waiting for you always,” concludes Nair.
