Students eligible for scholarships irrespective of Aadhaar card

Beneficiaries, who are eligible for scholarships of the Ministry of Social Justice, will not suffer due to absence of Aadhaar cards, the Lok Sabha was informed on Tuesday.

New Delhi: Beneficiaries, who are eligible for scholarships of the Ministry of Social Justice, will not suffer due to absence of Aadhaar cards, the Lok Sabha was informed on Tuesday.

In his written reply, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Vijay Sampla said, the Government has decided to release all scholarships from the next academic year of 2015-16 directly to bank accounts of beneficiary students with or without Aadhaar card.

"Necessary instructions have also been issued to ensure that no eligible beneficiary for the scholarship suffers for want of Aadhaar," he added.

Responding to an another question, the Minister said that a total number of 106 grievances relating to scholarships were redressed by the ministry through the Centralised Public Grievance Redressal and Monitoring System during fiscal 2014-15 (till 17-03-2015).
