New Delhi: With Congress-NCP coalition
appearing to retain power in Maharashtra, NCP chief Sharad
Pawar on Thursday said Congress will decide on the issue of new
Chief Minister.
"Congress will decide," Pawar said when asked whether
Ashok Chavan will be the Chief Minister. This line cuts the earlier statement of Chhagan Bhujbal who had proposed the CM post be rotated between the partners. However, Bhujbal himself later said that was his personal opinion and the final decision would be taken by Pawar.
Asked about the single biggest factor which led to the
impressive showing of the alliance, Pawar said that leadership
of Shiv Sena-BJP have not succeeded in inspiring the voters.
He said he was extremely happy with the response to NCP in rural Maharashtra. “Its an unexpected result,” Pawar beamed.
Pawar insisted that he wont raise any hackles for the CM’s post. “All I want is that Cong-NCP government should be formed and ties between our two parties should remain cordial.”
