‘Don`t feel like stepping on American soil’ Chicago: After his ‘ordeal’ at the hands of immigration officials at the Newark airport, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has said he does not feel like stepping on American soil any more but ruled out seeking an apology for the incident which was denied by US officials.

Driving straight to the venue of a function at the luxury Trump Taj Mahal hotel in Atlantic City in tattered jeans, a white T-shirt, a brownish coat and a muffler since his baggage was yet to arrive, Khan told the audience that "I was treated shabbily just because I happened to have Khan as my last name."

Profusely apologising to his fans for arriving two hours late at the casino city of New Jersey for Saturday's function, 'King' Khan stunned the large number of Indian Americans when he told them that he does not feel like stepping on the American soil any more, but it is the love and affection of millions of his fans in the US which would bring him to this country again and again.

Sharing his ‘ordeal’ which he underwent as he landed at the Newark International Liberty Airport on a British Airways flight, with his fans, the 43-year-old actor said he was grilled by immigration officials.

"It was very unprofessional of the airport security staff of not allowing me to use my cell phone to contact my local organisers," he told the audience, who were literally taken aback by what they heard from their superstar.

Let us be fair to the Americans at least in this game. If a securityman is doing his duty ou scalled ``King Khan`` should know his limits. I endorse the views of his fellow actor Salman Khan. Ameicans have faced it that is why they are doing it.....now why brag about it. I donot think USA will be bothered if Shahrukh Khan does not feel like setting foot on USA...?? Instead of crying foul, he should have praised their system where he was questioned. Security man must not have been a fan of his...?? Better cool down and think rationally.

Welcome to the club, for americans all indians are the same, nobody cares about king khan, badshah or whatever. Yesterday Bob Dylan was not recognised and he is a much bigger star than the khan

Yes SRK was treated shabbily. The organisers too need to be blamed for they should have liased with the Indian Embassy to ensure he had the free passage on landing. Secondly, the official posted there seems to have done his duty as per US laws and their policies. Why not the Indian Government give the same empowerment to the immigration officials here in India. Had they done a similar thing to some key person that poor official would have been suspended or transferred. Tit for tat policy advocated by Ambika Soni is immature and a statement coming from a Cabinet Minister sounds amusing. Rather we need to strengthen our Immigration and Intelligence and wherever they have the reason to believe should be subjected to interrogation and if need be deported. Politicians should not interfere. It is a lesson to us to emulate them and be strict so that no terrorist enters this country and create havoc. It happened to SRK. Had it happened to an innocent Muslim or a Sikh or a Hindu travelling to USA on business trip or otherwise it won`t have come to limelight at all even if he or she was subjected to say 4 hrs interrogation.Let Ambika Soni keep shut and PC take note of to strengthen our internal machinery.
